The ICM Ju 88 WWII USAAF/RAF Bomber (HC-ICM48227) is a 1:48 scale plastic model kit that recreates captured Ju 88 aircraft operated by both the USAAF and RAF during the Second World War. Offering build options for the Ju 88A-4 or Ju 88A-5 variants, the kit features a precisely detailed fuselage and tail assembly with accurate structural geometry, plus authentic marking decals for the distinctive captured schemes.
The history behind these subjects is remarkable. A Ju 88A-5 from 2/KGr 106 of the Luftwaffe mistakenly landed in England on 26 November 1941. Repainted with British identification markings, it became HM509 and flew with the RAF until May 1944. Another notable example is a Ju 88A-4 captured by American forces in Italy in the autumn of 1943. Incorporated into the 86th Fighter Squadron of the USAAF, it retained its original paint scheme and gained a bright emblem depicting an Indian on the left fuselage side. Flown to the United States, its familiar silhouette initially caused concern among air surveillance observers before the aircraft went on to be stationed at several US Air Force bases and used in public events.
This ICM kit brings those stories to the workbench with high-accuracy moulding, detailed sprues and clear assembly guidance. With 271 parts, the completed model measures 300 mm in length with a 418 mm wingspan, making it an impressive centrepiece in any WWII aircraft collection.

Another interesting story involves a Ju 88A-4, captured by American forces in Italy in the fall of 1943. This bomber was incorporated into the 86th Fighter Squadron of the USAAF, where it received its original paint scheme and a bright emblem featuring an image of an Indian on the left side of the fuselage. Later, it was flown to the United States, where its appearance initially caused panic among air surveillance observers, as its silhouette was recognized as an enemy aircraft. The captured Ju 88A-4 was later stationed at several US Air Force bases and used in various public events.
