Italeri Ford Escort Mk II

The Italeri Ford Escort Mk II (HC-3655) celebrates Ford’s iconic second-generation Escort, launched in 1975 as a significant evolution of the Mk1 that debuted at the 1968 Brussels Motor Show. Retaining the proven mechanical base of its predecessor, the Mk2 adopted a clean, squared profile in line with 1970s design trends.

Heritage And Design

The Escort Mk2 range was extensive, offered in three body styles (2-door, 4-door and 3-door estate), with five engine options and a wide array of settings and configurations. Mainly produced in Ford’s German plants, it achieved strong commercial success. Alongside the mainstream models, the Escort Sport delivered a more aggressive appearance with distinctive sport-oriented interiors.

Rally Success In The Late 1970s

To compete at the highest level, Ford introduced the RS 1800, which delivered notable results in international rallying. The Waldegård/Thorszelius pairing finished second at the 1979 Monte Carlo Rally and went on to win the World Rally Championship that year. The Motorsport team also performed strongly with Mikkola/Hertz, who placed fifth at Monaco in 1979.
