The LGB SWEG Steam Locomotive Road Number 798.101 (HC-L24268) is a finely detailed G scale model commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Jagst Valley Railroad. Finished in authentic Era IV colours and markings as seen in the 1980s, this narrow-gauge tender locomotive captures the distinctive character of road number 798.101 in operation.

Rooted in a remarkable history, the prototype began life in 1941 as Henschel HF 110 C 25982 for the German Army. It was taken over in 1948 by the Austrian Federal Railways as 798.101 and, after withdrawal in 1952, narrowly avoided scrapping. Rescued and extensively overhauled by Walter Seidensticker, the locomotive reappeared in new glory under the affectionate name "Nicki S". From 1984 it thrilled visitors on the picturesque Jagst Valley line between Möckmühl and Dörzbach. Later, regauged to 600 mm and operating at Mühlenstroth as "Nicki und Frank S", its sister locomotive 99 4652 now recalls the HF 110 C heritage in Dörzbach. LGB’s model brings this story to life on your railway.

Performance is assured by powerful ball bearing Bühler motors fitted in both the locomotive and tender, delivering smooth, dependable traction. A factory-installed mfx/DCC decoder provides a wealth of light and sound functions, while an onboard buffer capacitor helps maintain reliable running over brief power interruptions. A synchronised smoke generator enhances realism with steam puffs timed to wheel rotation, and opening cab doors invite closer inspection of the cab detail. Traction tyres further support confident operation across varied layouts.

On the romantic Jagst Valley Railroad in Baden-Württemberg over the course of its 125 year old history there was a meeting of many vehicle rarities. Among them was also a small, but fine steam locomotive that went by the affectionate name Nicki S. Its story reads like a fairy tale with an unusual Happy End. This narrow gauge locomotive with a tender was born in the extremely restless times of World War II. In 1941 Henschel delivered the rather common HF 110 C 25982 designated locomotive to the German Army. In 1948 it was taken over by the Austrian Federal Railroader as road number 798.101, but it was only used until 1952. From that time on, this steam horse waited for the scrap cutter or a prince who would save it from its sad fate. It finally came in the person of the Bielefeld entrepreneur Walter Seidensticker, who acquired road number 798.101 and overhauled it extensively to appear in new glory.

Its proud owner was so enthusiastic about his new decorative locomotive that he used his daughter's name 'Nicki S' for it. Starting in 1984 this locomotive thrilled visitors from near and far in the delightful Jagst Valley between Möckmühl and Dörzbach. When operations were halted there. Seidensticker brought his Nicki to the short line steam line Mühlenstroth close to him, where it can still be admired as Nicki und Frank S. However, it cannot be run to the festivities in the Jagst Valley because it no longer runs on 750 mm / 30 inch gauge. It has been regauged to 600 mm / 24 inch. In its place its sister locomotive 99 4652 is coming to Dörzbach and will remind people of when a HF 110 C locomotive steamed through the picturesque valley. Our two models can then festively celebrate on the LGB Railroad the major Jagst Valley Anniversary.
