The Reedy Sonic 540 M4 Brushless Motor 5.5T Modified (AS27446) brings competition-focused refinements to the proven M3 platform. Designed for 1:10 racing, it retains the linear powerband and strong mid‑range feel associated with Reedy’s modified motors while introducing key updates for precision, efficiency, and weight distribution.
Internally, the inner bearing has been moved into the can rather than the sensor assembly. This change more precisely aligns the rotor within the magnetic field and helps reduce noise and vibration. Externally, a shortened can improves chassis weight centralisation and trims overall mass by approximately 5–10 g, contributing to responsive handling without compromising durability.
A balanced, high‑strength rotor delivers powerful, fade‑free performance, with optional rotors available to fine‑tune feel for specific tracks and conditions. Dual precision stainless steel ball bearings are chosen to withstand sustained high RPM use, while low‑resistance, silver‑plated solder tabs and optimised air cooling support consistent output. Adjustable timing and a fully rebuildable design add versatility for serious racers. After months of development, Reedy is proud to announce the release of the Sonic 540-M4 Competition 1:10 Brushless Motor!
Internally, the 540-M4 is very similar to that of the 540-M3 that it replaces - it produces the same linear powerband and excellent mid-range feel that have become synonymous with Reedy’s modified motors. However, changes can be good when they serve a purpose. In the case of the 540-M4, the inner bearing has been moved so that it is part of the can instead of the sensor assembly, which more precisely aligns the rotor within the magnetic field while reducing noise and vibration.
Externally, the motor has been shortened, which results in more centralized weight distribution within the chassis. The reduced length, combined with improvements to the can design, results in a 5-10g reduction in weight.
A balanced, high-strength rotor provides powerful fade-free performance. A variety of optional rotors are available to fine-tune for specific applications and tracks. Precision stainless steel ball bearings have been fitted to reliably accommodate high RPM loads.
