Guild Materials’ Guild Lane Jubilee Maker Paint (CC-22) in Transvaal Grey is a self-levelling, versatile acrylic that dries to a smooth, soft-sheen finish. Supplied in a 500ml tin (part no. GLDJ105006), it’s designed for makers, crafters and restorers seeking a hard-wearing, water-based paint with excellent coverage.

Transvaal Grey takes inspiration from the Royal Family’s 1947 tour of southern Africa, when the queen consort favoured this adaptable pale grey. Part of the Jubilee palette, it reflects British history and the pioneering British Standard colours of the 1930s.

Suggested compatibility includes metal, glass, paper, wood, plastic, fabric, leather, ceramic and stone. Suitable for indoor and outdoor projects, with high pigment loading and excellent fade resistance.

Transvaal Grey Story

In 1947, the Royal family (King George VI, his wife Queen Elizabeth and his two daughters, Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret) embarked on a three-month tour of southern Africa. The queen consort selected two colours for her outfits: Transvaal Grey and Natal Rose. Named after the South African province of Transvaal, Transvaal Grey was described as 'a soft tone of pale grey, adaptable to all occasions .
