Ilyushin-62M - Soviet Passenger Aircraft

The Il-62 was the first Soviet intercontinental jet airliner, designed by the S.V. Ilyushin bureau and first flown on 2 January 1963. Series production began in 1966, and from 1973 the Il-62M variant introduced new engines that enabled an operational range of over 11,000 km. A total of 190 Il-62M were produced by 2004. Serving as Aeroflot’s flagship for decades and exported widely across the socialist bloc, a small number of Il-62M aircraft remain in service today.
