About The M47 Patton

Developed and deployed to U.S. armoured units in the early 1950s, the M47 featured notable advances over the M46, including better protection and a turret-mounted 90mm M3 gun. With a combat weight of approximately 46 tons, it was powered by a Continental 12-cylinder V-type air-cooled engine producing 810 hp, enabling a top speed of around 45 km/h. Widely used by NATO forces, the M47 remained in European service into the 1980s and saw combat in multiple theatres, from the Middle East to the Indo-Pakistani conflict.
