Historical Context

Musashi was the second ship of the Yamato class, distinguished by nine 46cm guns with a range of 41km and the ability to penetrate 43cm of armour at long distances. With a displacement exceeding 70,000 tons and extensive armour protection, she served as the flagship of the Japanese fleet from February 1943 to March 1944. Musashi later took part in operations in the Philippines and, on 24 October 1944, came under sustained air attack that led to her sinking.
