1/24 BMW M4 GT3 DTM Champion 2022

Known for their sporty and well-balanced driving, BMW cars from all generations have been widely active in various motorsports, including pre-war races like Le Mans and Mille Miglia, and post-war events such as the European Touring Car Championship. The latest machine that symbolises BMW is the BMW M4 GT3.

The 4 Series coupe is derived from the company’s compact saloon, the 3 Series. This competition-only vehicle, which BMW announced in 2021, is based on the 4 Series 2-door coupe. The B58B30 engine is BMW’s traditional inline 6-cylinder, and with a displacement of 2,993 cc, it delivers a maximum output of 590 hp.

The body has undergone various aerodynamic modifications, including large air outlets on the hood, in accordance with GT3 category regulations, and the rear is equipped with a wing attached with swan-neck stays. As its name suggests, the M4 GT3 was sent out to dominateGT3 category races held in Europe and the United States. Deliveries to racing teams around the world began in 2022, and the car is also competing in the GT300 class of Super GT in Japan. One of the most successful races is the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters), the German Touring Car Championship.DTM, which began in 1984.

It is known for its fierce competition among local manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Opel, and occasionally with overseas teams such as Alfa Romeo. It is also popular as a touring car race in Japan. DTM has gone through several rule revisions and periods of inactivity, but starting with the 2021 season, DTM, which had been contested under Class 1 regulations until 2020, began using GT3 category machines. BMW, a long-time DTM competitor, replaced its predecessor, the BMW M6 GT3 DTM, with four M4 GT3s for the 2022 season.

The lineup consisted of the No. 10 car driven by Esteban Muth and the No. 11 car driven by Marco Wittmann from Walkenhorst Motorsport, and the No.25 car driven by Philipp Eng and the No.31car driven by Sheldon van der Linde from Schubert Motorsport. Sheldon van der Linde was particularly strong throughout the season, winning both Race 1 and Race 2 in the second round at the Lausitzring, and also winning Race 1 in the fifth round at the Nürburgring. He consistently placed highly in other races, accumulating points and ultimately becoming the season champion. At the same time, Schubert Motorsport took first place in the team rankings, proving the high potential of the BMW M4 GT3.
