About The Panzer III Ausf. J
The Panzer III formed the backbone of Germany’s armoured forces in the early years of WWII. The Ausf. J, produced from March 1941 to July 1942, introduced 50mm basic frontal armour and a lengthened hull with a revised rear and engine deck. Early examples carried the 5cm KwK38 L/42, while later vehicles adopted the longer 5cm KwK38 L/60 for improved anti-armour performance. With 1,549 units built, the Ausf. J served widely on the Eastern Front and in North Africa, engaging opponents such as T-34s and KV-1s, as well as Grants and Valentines—ideal inspiration for varied diorama settings.
