The Dragon 1/35 T-34/85 UTZ Mod Premium Edition (HC-D6266) captures a late-war Soviet medium tank configuration, complete with the distinctive "mattress spring" armour seen on many vehicles toward the end of WWII, including during the Battle for Berlin. This protective screen armour is provided as photo-etched metal parts for an authentic scale appearance.

In addition to the turret and hull screens, this Premium Edition includes further photo-etched and metal details, such as finely rendered air-intake louvres, delivering a comprehensive upgrade in fidelity. Modellers are also given the option to assemble a flamethrower version of the T-34/85, adding versatility to the build. The subject reflects production from the Ural Tank Factory (UTZ), one of the principal manufacturers of the T-34 during the war.

This kit has received many modifications, the most remarkable of which is the "mattress spring" armour that was added to many T-34 turrets and hulls near the close of the war. This type of armour is often seen on photos of T-34/85s in such combat as the Battle for Berlin.

This protective armour is formed from photo-etched metal parts on the kit. The same material, as well as metal, is also used for many other components (e.g. air-intake louvres). These additions provide a comprehensive upgrade in the level of detail. Modellers are even given the option of assembling a flamethrower version of the tank! A number of factories produced the T-34 during WWII, with one of the largest being the Ural Tank Factory, or UTZ for short.
