Italeri’s 1/48 G.91 R1/R3 Gina (part number HC-92645) depicts the Fiat G.91, the compact single-engine fighter-bomber developed in the early 1950s. Designed by Giuseppe Gabrielli, the aircraft combined swept wings and modest dimensions for impressive manoeuvrability. Its performance won NATO’s competition for a tactical support aircraft that was easy to produce as well as versatile and flexible, leading to service with Italy, Germany and Portugal. In the “R” configuration it was armed with four 12.7 mm nose-mounted machine guns and could carry up to 700 kg of ordnance on underwing pylons.
