Description

Italeri BF 109 G-2/G-6 Aces, part number HC-1483, is a 1:72 scale model kit depicting the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter aircraft. Measuring 12.5 cm when built, it forms part of Italeri’s World War II Aces range.

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was one of the best-known fighter aircraft of the Second World War and became a symbol of the Luftwaffe. Its design was upgraded throughout the conflict with changes to the engine and armament, helping it remain in service alongside increasingly capable opposing aircraft.

The Bf 109 operated with the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 as one of the main fighter aircraft types used by Luftwaffe units. Many well-known German fighter pilots flew the aircraft, including pilots from Jagdgeschwader 52 and Erich Hartmann, who recorded the highest number of aerial victories of any pilot during the war.

Features

This kit includes decal options representing aircraft associated with four recognised Luftwaffe aces: Erich Hartmann, Gerhard Barkhorn, Günther Rall and Johannes Steinhoff. These markings give the finished model a connection to different pilots from the Bf 109’s wartime service.

Specifications

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 monoplane fighter is, without a doubt, one of the most famous fighter aircraft of the Second World War and can be considered one of the symbols of the Luftwaffe. Throughout the conflict, it was regularly upgraded in terms of engines and armament in an effort to remain competitive against more modern aircraft with superior flight performance. Together with the Focke-Wulf Fw 190, it formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe's fighter units. The most renowned German aces flew the Bf 109, achieving a significant number of aerial victories. Among them we can recall the pilots of the famous Jagdgeschwader 52 and the ace with the highest number of kills of the Second World War: Erich Hartmann.
