Italeri F-5A Freedom Fighter

During the 1950s, Northrop developed a simple, low-cost fighter to meet NATO needs. The resulting F-5A Freedom Fighter was a light, single-seat aircraft—small in size, highly manoeuvrable and operationally efficient.

The initial F-5A was powered by two General Electric J85-GE-13 engines, reaching around 1,700 km/h. Armed with twin 20 mm nose-mounted guns and able to carry a varied weapons load, it proved credible in both air defence and ground attack roles, leading to widespread adoption by many air forces.
