Italeri Leopard 1A5

The Italeri Leopard 1A5 (HC-6481) focuses on the later evolution of Germany’s Cold War main battle tank. Armed with the dependable 105 mm L7 and updated with a modified turret housing computerised target identification and fire-control systems, the A5 variant represented a significant capability boost. Additional polycarbonate composite armour plates further increased protection against enemy hits.

Entering service in the mid-1960s, the Leopard 1 became the backbone of the Federal Republic of Germany’s Armoured Corps and was widely used by NATO forces. Tasked with countering the massed armour of the Warsaw Pact, the type’s A5 upgrade enhanced accuracy, situational awareness, and survivability to keep pace with evolving battlefield threats.
