Historical Notes

The M4 Sherman was the principal United States medium tank of the Second World War, produced in large numbers and serving as the backbone of US armoured forces. Production of the M4A3E8—nicknamed the “Easy Eight”—began in late 1944, introducing the HVSS suspension to improve handling and mobility alongside the powerful 76 mm gun. The “Easy Eight” saw action in the closing stages of World War II and later took an active role in the Korean War.
