About The S-3 Viking
Introduced in the mid‑1970s, the S-3 Viking was designed for sea control and surveillance missions in close coordination with ships and helicopters assigned to protect aircraft carriers. Its long on-station capability is supported by in‑flight refuelling, enabling extended patrols over wide ocean areas. The aircraft’s spacious internal bay can carry mission stores such as torpedoes, depth charges, and a large number of buoys used to receive underwater signals.
