Kyosho 1:18 Ferrari F40 Mint Green 1987 Die-Cast Collection

The Ferrari F40 is widely regarded as one of the finest supercars ever built, and a one-off example is heading to auction this weekend, where it’s expected to sell for between $1.9 million and $2.5 million. This F40 is chassis number 88538 and was originally painted in Rosso Corsa and delivered to the original buyer in Germany. It was later purchased by the then-president of the German Ferrari Club but damaged in 1998 and sold to a buyer in the Netherlands. The car was repaired and resprayed in the original shade of red. More recently, it was sold at auction in 2014 and acquired by the current owner in 2021, who set about making it unique. Rather than respraying it in red yet again, the owner took inspiration from a 250 GTO – chassis number 3505 – and had it repainted in a lovely shade of pale green. The interior has also been retrimmed in blue upholstery. Thanks to its special paintwork, the car is often referred to as the ‘Minty Forty’, and it retains its matching-numbers engine and transmission. All F40s were painted in Rosso Corsa at the factory, and while many have been repainted since, none are quite as dramatic as this one. The listing adds the fuel tanks were replaced in 2022 and more than €43,000 has been spent on the car over the past 18 months. It has roughly 19,300 miles (~31,000 km) on the clock.
