Description

The J Perkins Matchbuilder Stephens Rocket Locomotive Kit, part number 5595598, is a matchstick construction kit for building a model of Stephenson's Rocket. Designed for the Matchmodeller hobby, it uses preformed cardboard shapes to help create the locomotive while allowing scope for individual building skill.

The kit contains headless matchsticks, cardboard cut-out formers, PVA wood adhesive and full instructions. Together, these components provide the materials and guidance needed to assemble the model. The recommended age for this kit is 14 years and over.

About Stephenson's Rocket

Stephenson's Rocket was built in 1829 at the Forth Street Works of Robert Stephenson and Co in Newcastle upon Tyne. It was entered in the Rainhill Trials, organised by the Liverpool and Manchester Railway to select a locomotive design for railway use. The Rocket's success helped establish a standard for modern steam locomotives and supported the rapid expansion of rail travel.

This construction kit presents the historic locomotive as a hands-on matchstick modelling project. The finished model uses the brown colour associated with the supplied wood material, while the included instructions explain the building process.
