Tamiya 1/35 RSO/01 German Tractor HC-35394 is a plastic model assembly kit from the Military Miniature Series. This newly moulded kit represents the post-spring 1943 version of the German RSO/01, a tracked tractor developed during the Second World War to handle difficult terrain, including deep snow. The vehicle used a front-mounted 70 hp, 3,517 cc V8 petrol engine and four-speed transmission to drive the rear differential and sprockets. Its distinctive rounded pressed-steel cabin, snow tracks and load-carrying bed are carefully reproduced for an authentic display model.
Model Features
The kit offers useful construction choices for adding variety to the finished vehicle. The cargo bed can be built with or without its canvas cover, while the cover includes convincing frame and fabric pattern detail. The cabin front cover can also be assembled with or without shutters. Engine, propeller shaft and differential components are represented beneath the exterior, and the assembly-type tracks use one-piece straight sections to help simplify construction. Detailed wood patterns on the bed and historically themed markings add further character.

We are now delighted to announce the RSO/01 with completely new Tamiya mouldings in 1/35 Military Miniature Series (the previous Item 32404 used Italeri parts). During WWII, the RSO was developed as a German tractor to deal with conditions such as deep snowfall. A 70 hp 3,517 cc V8 gasoline engine and 4-speed transmission were mounted in the front, and powered the rear differential and sprockets via a propeller shaft. The first production model RSO/01 had a rounded cabin of pressed steel sheet. 60cm width snow tracks could be fitted to get over bad roads. The production started in October, 1942 and from next spring, the RSO/01 had the cabin floor raised by around 30mm to keep it out of the way of the snow tracks. The RSO found applications such as an artillery tractor and transportation of goods.
