The Tamiya 1/48 JGSDF Type 10 Tank (HC-32588) captures Japan’s fourth-generation main battle tank in compact, highly detailed form. The real Type 10 features a 120 mm smoothbore gun, advanced fire control and modular armour, and Tamiya’s kit reflects these modern lines and textures with crisp moulding and smart parts breakdown.
Developed with extensive access to the actual vehicle, this kit includes the C4 lot updates seen on tanks delivered from the second half of 2014. You’ll find refined turret and hull details, anti-slip textures, updated mudguards and realistic assembly tracks with one-piece straight sections. Hull interior weights provide an authentic sense of heft, while a commander torso figure and detailed M2 machine gun bring extra realism. Markings are provided for the 1st or 8th Tank Battalion.

Officially announced in 2010, the Type 10 is the fourth generation main battle tank serving the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF). It is equipped with a domestically-developed smoothbore 120mm main gun and automatic targeting system that allows tracking of targets while the highly mobile Type 10 is on the move. Modular armor on the turret and hull not only provides top level protection, it can also be removed to allow swift transportation across the Japanese archipelago on trailers and the like. Delivery to units commenced in 2012 and the Type 10 is envisaged to replace the long-serving Type 74.
