Historical Notes
During WWII, British forces used passenger car chassis to create pick-up style Light Utility Cars, affectionately nicknamed Tilly. Powered by a 30hp engine with rear-wheel drive, the vehicle lacked off-road ability and was soon supplanted by 4WD types. It then saw widespread use on airbases and other paved areas. The Tilly served in the Dunkirk evacuation, across the North African and Italian fronts, and throughout Europe from the Normandy invasion onwards.
