Tamiya Texture Paint Grit Light Sand (HC-87110) is a water-based paste formulated with ceramic particles to recreate the look of yellow desert sand on diorama bases and terrain. The surface dries to a rough, gritty finish, ideal for scale modelling, scenery and weathering inspired by the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan.

About Grit Effect Texture Paint

  • Water-based, paste-like texture with ceramic particles for sandy surfaces.
  • Dries to a rough, gritty finish for realistic terrain effects.
  • Colour inspired by Iraq and Afghanistan desert environments.
  • 40ml bottle; sufficient to cover a B4-sized area with two coats.
  • Drying time: approximately 3–4 hours in summer, 4–5 hours in winter.

Application Guidance

  • Apply with a spatula or an old paintbrush to avoid damaging bristles.
  • Low odour; clean tools with water before the paint sets.
  • Can be mixed with other Tamiya acrylics to adjust colour.
  • Suitable for subsequent enamel washes and dry brushing on the textured surface.
  • Not suitable for airbrush use.

About Grit Effect Texture Paint

  • This water-based paint features a paste-like texture with ceramic particles for recreating sandy surfaces.
  • The surface becomes rough and gritty once it has dried completely.
  • The inspiration for this paint's color is the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan.
  • There is enough paint in each bottle to cover a B4-sized area. (2 coats)
  • 40ml Bottle.-Drying time: Summer 3-4 hours, Winter 4-5 hours.
  • As this item is water-based, it does not have a strong smell and it is possible to clean with water before it sets.
  • When applying, please use a spatula or an old paintbrush as the new brush bristles maybe damaged when applying.
  • It is possible to mix with other Tamiya acrylic paints to achieve different colors.
  • It is possible to apply washing and dry brush on the texture painted surface with enamel paints.
  • Do not use with airbrushes as it may cause damage.
