The ICM Unimog S 404 with Drehringlafette Ring Mount (HC-ICM35139) is a 1:35 scale plastic model kit depicting a Bundeswehr military truck configured as a mobile machine-gun platform. The Unimog S 404 was developed after the Second World War for military use in difficult off-road conditions, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase, 1.5-tonne payload and four-wheel drive. This version features the tubular Drehringlafette ring mount installed above the cab, together with an MG3 machine gun.
The ring mount allowed the gunner to engage targets through a full 360-degree arc, including low-flying aerial targets. The kit includes a detailed engine, chassis and cab interior, allowing the vehicle’s construction and military configuration to be represented in scale. Decals are supplied for four marking options, while the assembly instructions guide the build from the plastic sprues to the completed model.

The history of the Unimog S 404 military truck began in the post-war period, when the Bundeswehr required a light, versatile vehicle capable of operating in difficult off-road conditions. The resulting Unimog S 404 was compact, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase and a payload of 1.5 tonnes. Its 2,195 cc six-cylinder petrol engine produced 82 hp. A robust frame, four-wheel drive, and effective suspension gave the vehicle excellent cross-country capability.
Over the following decades, the Unimog S 404 was produced in numerous versions, including cargo trucks, Koffer-bodied vehicles, ambulances, mobile radio stations, workshops, and snowploughs. Some vehicles were armed with an MG3 machine gun mounted on a special rotating ring mount known as the Drehringlafette. Its tubular structure was installed above the cab on support brackets attached to both sides of the vehicle. The system allowed the gunner to engage targets through a full 360-degree arc. Equipped in this way, the Unimog S 404 could serve as a mobile machine-gun platform and engage low-flying aerial targets.
