Zvesda Arktika Russian Nuclear Icebreaker

The Zvesda Arktika Russian Nuclear Icebreaker (HC-Z9044) captures the lead ship of a new icebreaker class, commissioned in October 2020 in Murmansk. Designed to keep the Northern Sea Route open and to support expeditions to the North Pole region, the real “Arktika” is a remarkable subject for ship modellers.

As the largest icebreaker in the world, Arktika measures 173.3 m in length with a 34 m beam. It is driven by three shafts of 20 MW each, powered by two nuclear reactors rated at 175 MWt. This full hull model kit comprises 525 parts and builds to an impressive display size of 49.5 cm in length and 14.6 cm in height. A helicopter and a display stand are included to complete the presentation.
