Capture a snapshot of early World War II airborne forces with the Zvesda German Paratroops WWII 1:35 scale kit (HC-Z3628). Depicting German parachute troops of the Luftwaffe, this set offers crisp detail suited to diorama building and historical modelling.
The German parachute troops were formed in 1936 within the Luftwaffe and later served under the Wehrmacht. Well-coordinated tactics and Ju-52 transport aircraft enabled notable early-war successes, culminating in Operation Mercury, the capture of Crete from 20 May to 1 June 1941, involving up to 24,000 paratroopers and 1,200 aircraft. In the latter half of the war, these airborne units were often employed as regular infantry, and their effectiveness prompted the Allies to reassess airborne warfare.

In the second half of the war, the German airborne troops were used mainly as regular infantry units to support ground forces.
