Steve W's Top 5 Traxxas Slash 4X4 Upgrades

1. Anything Made by RPM!

Hubs, caster and steering blocks, arms, shock towers, bumpers, rod ends. RPM parts are so much stronger than the original nylon parts they are really the most worthy upgrade to any slash.

2. Proline Body Mounts PL6087-00

These allow you to use many aftermarket body shells and completely change the look of your vehicle. They also use thumb screws instead of body clips which are much better at gripping the body and add a nice scale look to the truck.

3. Traxxas 17mm Hex Conversion TRX6856X

These allow you to use any 1:8 scale buggy wheels on your slash. 1:8 buggy wheels are cheaper than short course wheels and you have far more choice of tyres.  They also add a couple of millimetres to the ride height.  I love these as there are some really aggressive 1:8 buggy wheels and tyres on the market to suit any application.

4. Shock Upgrades

I like to use the blue rate springs all round TRX6868 and TRX6864 along with the aluminium shock caps TRX3767A . These are an excellent upgrade, or you can go for the slash 4x4 big bore kit TRX5862 . Personally I prefer using traxxas shocks to any other brand as the replacement parts are always readily available and they have a really smooth action.

5. (PRO Level!) 1:8 Brushless Upgrade. 

This really is for the pros out there that want to use more voltage and have massive torque for long offroad run times or for speed runs. The Hobbywing 2200kv MAX8 combo HW38010400 can then turn your slash into a 6S monster.  This consists of a motor, esc and pinion gear change and some slight modification to the receiver box position and esc mounting.  Just a word of caution - this one really is for pros and people that like to modify their cars quite heavily!
