Hi - is this a kit that needs building from scratch? Looking for a nitro car but similar to a Tamika build.

No, this will come pre assembled in the box. to build a nitro you would go for off road something like this is a nitro kit form HBM7-ST-PRO you would then need all of the other items electronics and engine etc
