The Multiplex Funcub NG Kit MPX1-0303 is a green Elapor model aircraft kit designed for beginner-friendly flying and enjoyable aerobatics. The “NG” designation means Next Generation, reflecting improvements to the original FunCub concept, including refined handling and a redesigned internal fuselage structure. Its ultra-docile flying characteristics make it approachable for newcomers, while the agile airframe also supports more advanced manoeuvres such as knife-edge passes and torque rolls.
This kit features a two-part wing with functional struts that are easy to fit using the supplied multi-tool. The struts may be left off for general flying, but are recommended when performing aerobatics. Direct, precise control-surface linkages help give the aircraft a predictable response, while offset split landing flaps allow very short take-offs and landings. Large, lightweight EPP wheels and a strong welded-steel-rod undercarriage make the Funcub NG well suited to operating from a wide variety of terrain.

The fuselage has been completely redesigned around a central rectangular-section GRP tube, which absorbs the principal forces acting on the undercarriage, motor mount and battery plate. Battery access is through the canopy, making swaps straightforward during a flying session. The model also supports an optional aero-tow release, adding potential for glider towing as well as conventional powered flight. The manufacturer describes the standard ROXXY motor installation in the RR configuration as providing ample power reserves for energetic aerobatics.
As a kit, the Funcub NG is aimed at modellers who want to build and prepare their own aircraft. AircraftStudioDesign decals are supplied in the model’s green colour scheme, and the Elapor construction combines low weight with the practical durability associated with foam model aircraft. Here at MULTIPLEX the "Cub" name has a long tradition in our range of Elapor and lightweight foam model aircraft. It all started with the PicoCub, which first saw the light of day back in the year 2000. From the outset the machine was designed as a beginner's model, although at that time it was still made of styrofoam. After this came a whole series of successful models including the EasyCub, FunCub and FUNCUB XL. And here comes the "FunCUB NG"! The NG suffix stands for "Next Generation", and it really does deserve the appellation.
We have managed to improve the model's already excellent flying qualities and handling, and this means that the FunCub NG is extremely good-natured and impressively easy to control, but remains very agile: it can even be used for aerobatics and glider towing. The ROXXY motor installed (RR) as standard offers ample reserves of power, enabling the model to fly knife-edge passes and torque rolls. The FunCub NG is an outstanding choice as a beginner's trainer, but will delight young and old equally.
One new feature is the working wing struts. The model can be flown without the struts, but for aerobatics we recommend that they be fitted. The large wheels and new undercarriage make the FunCub easily capable of taking off and landing on virtually any terrain. The internal fuselage structure has been completely redesigned, and the motor is now back-mounted; the principal forces on the undercarriage, motor mount and battery plate are absorbed by a central rectangular-section GRP tube.
