Tamiya PS-55 Flat Clear is a 100ml polycarbonate (Lexan) spray paint designed for decorating transparent R/C car bodies. Formulated for durability, it is impervious to oil and fuels, making it suitable for glow engine applications. The finish provides a flat clear look when applied correctly. Part number HC-86055.

How To Apply

Paint the body from the inside, keeping the can about 30 cm from the surface.
Allow the coat to cure, then apply another coat for an even finish.
Brush paint small details beforehand using Tamiya bottle paints for polycarbonate.

These spray paints were especially developed for decorating transparent polycarbonate bodies used in R/C car modelling. Each can contains 100ml of paint, which is the appropriate amount for finishing the model. Paint the body from the inside, keeping the can about 30cm from the surface. After curing, apply another coat. Small details should be brush painted beforehand, using Tamiya bottle paints for polycarbonate. These paints are impervious to oil and fuels, so they can be safely used on glow engine R/C car bodies.

I personally use this paint for three different jobs. One is to make it look like you have working wipers, by masking off windscreen wiper areas on the windscreen and spraying this to the rest of the windscreen (looks great!). Second is to flatten down the glossy shiny effect of the lexan by spraying the exterior of the lexan after painting the interior. The third is to give the lexan a base coat, so I can then use acrylic paints and paints not compatible with lexan to add fine detail etc... Probably the most versatile spray paint there is!

If this is used on the outside of the body is it safe to spray over decals?

Yes this will be fine , do a thin coat first then build up the laters so the decal does not crease or shrink.

I would like to ask you if it's better to paint with ps 55 on the inside before the base color or on the outside of the body after the base color?

All PS paints should normally be applied on the inside.

You can use PS-55 on the outside to provide a matt effect though if you wish
