Got a few of these and they perform flawlessly in my racing buggies. Although missing features like turbo and boost it does have timing adjustment that make quite a bit of difference. A great cost effective, smooth and so far reliable esc.

Great ESC, just needs soldering in

Questions & Answers
Real questions from real customers. Why not ask your own?
The esc details says input 2-3s but in the q&a one of the answers says no to 3s, can you confirm if this esc will or will not work with 3s. Thanks
Paul Duckmanton / 30th June 2024
This depends on what motor you are running on the ESC Motor Limit on 2S lipo >4.5T (3650 / 540 size) Motor Limit on 3S lipo >10.5T (3650 / 540 size)

Hi I’m new to the rd world and just got my self a serpent spyder and need a new esc I’ve been told the motor in mine is a 6.5t and got a sensor wire on it and wanted to know if this Hobbywing Quicrun 10BL120 Sensored Brushless ESC - 120A will be ok to use I’m not going to be racing it will be more on gravel and over the park on grass or world you recommend something different I don’t want to spend to much just yet and just getting in to it many thanks
Jamie / 4th February 2023

This esc will do down to a 4.5t motor for touring cars ( so tarmac only )  I would say looking at the motor that you have and running on grass yes it should work but you would need to keep the gearing very conservative.

Will this work with a tamyia 10.5T motor? Having issues with tamyia esc 04s with brushless or brushed. Although it tried turn on brushed. Brushed worked on a unbranded brushed esc so battery is good
Matthew Patton / 24th June 2022

Yes, that should work nicely with any brushless motor - including Tamiya.

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
do you have to solder this into the motor or can you buy wires which just clip onto them, if so do you sell any?
Mason / 16th July 2021

These would want to be soldered in

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Would this work with the maverick strada tc brushless motor
Max / 22nd February 2021

You'd be better with a sensorless ESC for that motor - eg HW30107100

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Hi I'd just like to ask if this hobbywing esc would be compatible with traxxas rustler vxl 2wd with standard velineon motor thank you
Asif Ali / 20th January 2021

It may well work, but this is sensored.

For sensorless, I'd look at say HW30102601

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Will this esc take 4s?
Marc / 7th January 2021

No, these are listed as "

    • Voltage Range - 5-8.4v"
    •
Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Will this be ok to run on a 3s lipo 11.1v ? I tried a cheap £13 120a esc and it fried it in seconds.
Ashley / 5th January 2021

No sorry = 8.4v max input on these

Depending on your motor, try HW30102601

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Would this fit in the Tamiya XV01?
Ak / 14th August 2020

Yes no reason why not

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Would this work with a turingy 9t brushless motor? Not sure if motor sensored or sensorless! Thanks
Dave / 17th June 2020

Yes this should work

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Hi, hope you are well. I have a 9 turn brushed motor and I am looking for a suitable ESC. Will a brushless ESC be ok? Thanks, Simon
Simon Barratt / 1st June 2020

No sorry a brushless ESC wouldn't work.

Something like HW30120201 would be ideal but it has a 12T limit. 9T is very low...

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Hi there, im new in this hobby and im not understand the limits of the motor turns this Esc supports, can i have a little explanation pls ? thank you
Lucas / 14th April 2020

This is a 120A limit

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
whats the difference between this esc and the xerun 120? apart from the price lol
Paul Mckeag / 18th April 2019

Features, programmability, stability - the XERUN is a better spec ESC hence why it's more expensive.

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Does this speedo come pre wired?
James / 17th March 2019

No, these have solder tabs for you to solder your own cables

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Can this be run without the fan? What would the limit be?
Tam / 27th February 2019

Yes, you could disconnect the fan if you want (unsure why though?)

No specific limit is given for such a scenario - you'd have to be very careful about keeping an eye on temperatures to avoid damage.

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Hi, do you have a link to the correct led programming card for this etc please?
Stuart Smith / 3rd January 2019

Sure, the LED program card is HW86020020

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Can this be run with a sensorless motor?
Nick / 8th December 2018

Yes, can run with either.

Ben @ Wheelspin Models
Regarding the Hobbywing Quickrun 120a esc, what’s the lowest turn brushless motor that this can run? Thanks
John Cunningham / 7th October 2018

On 2S, recommended max is 4.5T in touring cars, 5.5T in lightweight offroad.

On 3S, 10.5T in touring or 13.5 off road.
