Description

The Tamiya Volkswagen Karmann Ghia (M-06) is a 1/10 scale radio control model assembly kit that captures the elegant, low-slung lines of the classic 2+2 coupé. The lightweight polycarbonate body is complemented by separately moulded, metal-plated light cases, bumpers and side mirrors for period-correct detail. Classic metal-plated dish wheels and treaded tyres complete the look, while the light cases have suggested compatibility with separately sold LEDs for added realism.

Underneath sits Tamiya’s rear-motor, rear-wheel-drive M-06 chassis. A longitudinal battery position and electronics mounted low on either side help deliver a balanced layout with a low centre of gravity. Four-wheel independent double wishbone suspension with friction dampers, a 3-piece steering linkage and mixed 60D radial (front) and 60D super grip (rear) tyres provide responsive, predictable handling. A Type 540 motor is included, and different gear ratios can be achieved using separately sold pinion gears.

Part number HC-58677 recreates the Karmann Ghia with authentic proportions and a 239 mm wheelbase, offering a rewarding on-road build for fans of vintage Volkswagen RC cars.

Specifications

A Classy Ride
1955 was the debut of the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, which combined a Volkswagen chassis with a 2+2coupe body designed by Italian outfit Ghia and manufactured in Germany by Karmann. An air cooled flat-four engine in the back powered the rear wheels, and its fusion of looks, low ride height and affordable price tag made it a popular model that still retains a fan base in the modern day. This radio control model assembly kit depicts the car in 1/10 scale. The elegant lines of the low-slung car are accurately recreated by a polycarbonate body, with separately molded metal-plated light case, bumper and side mirror parts adding extra realism.

- Left: The front of the model is resplendent with plated bumper and overriders. Light cases are compatible with separately sold LEDs.

- Right: The side mirror is fastened from the inside of the polycarbonate body using snap pin. This is a dedicated part for this car.

- Left: The rear bumper is also metal-plated, and rear light cases can be fitted with separately sold LEDs for an extra level of realism.

- Right: Classic metal-plated dish wheels add a further accent to the model, and are paired with grippy, treaded tires for a great drive.

Great RR Performance from the M-06
The M-06 chassis features a rear-mounted motor, rear-drive setup and has a longitudinally-mounted battery pack, with R/C equipment positioned on either side for optimum balance and a low center of gravity. 4-wheel double wishbone suspension uses metal-plated wheels, equipped with 60D radial tires at the front and 60D super grip tires at the rear. In addition, a 3-piece steering linkage offers nimble handling response.

- Left: The M-06 chassis' three-piece steering linkage ensures you have great control and direct steering feel.

- Right: A close-up on the independent double wishbone front suspension setup, which employs friction dampers.

- Left: The rear-mounted motor, rear-wheel drive setup provides the model with excellent traction at the rear.

- Right: A close-up on the rear suspension. Use separately sold pinion gears to achieve different gear ratios.
