Tamiya Super Sabre (2023)

The Tamiya Super Sabre (2023) re-release brings back the much-loved 1987 off-road buggy with thoughtful updates. Supplied as an R/C model assembly kit, this edition arrives with a pre-cut and pre-painted silver polycarbonate body and separate wing, preserving the original look while simplifying the build for newcomers. The Super Sabre shares its lineage with the Boomerang, yet stands apart with its own body styling and damper stay design.

Beneath the body, a shaft-driven 4WD drivetrain delivers dependable traction and stability on rough terrain and through corners. An ABS bathtub frame provides durability and straightforward maintenance, while sealed gearboxes with built-in differentials promote smooth, controlled cornering and keep dirt at bay. The chassis runs 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension with CVA Short Dampers II and a front stabilizer to make the most of the 4WD platform, with damper stay components original to this model.

Dimensions are length 390mm, width 234mm and height 135mm. An electronic speed controller (ESC) and Type 540 motor are included to get the essentials in place. Please note the body still requires application of stickers, plus cutting and painting of the driver figure and other finishing work.
