No, you can use this with pretty much any receiver.

It should work fine in your ECX Ruckus.

Can you put this motor and esc in rock craweler
Asked by James Mayer on 24th January 2017

It would technically fit in most 1:10 crawlers, but it is not a crawler system and not something we'd recommend.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

I just purchased this combo and I was just wondering what's lipo is better to use 2s 3s? I know that 3s will give me more speed but will there be a trade off e.g. More wear of gears or to much heat etc? What lipo would you suggest for minimal issues ?
Asked by Jack on 21st February 2017

2S is the sweet spot. 3S is only workable in smaller, lighter models with short gearing.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Hi, would this fit a traumas slash 4x4 ultimate and would it run OK on 3s? Thanks
Asked by Lee Crush on 23rd April 2017

Whilst it would bolt in place, we'd recommend you go for a more powerful system for a truck of that calibre.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Would it fit on maverick strada xb evo.
Asked by Matthew Robinson on 5th June 2017

Yes, this would fit most 1:10 cars including your Maverick.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Hi, What would the battery life be with a e Lipo battery? Iam converting my TMaxx into electric and was looking at this option of esc and motor. I don't race it so just do it for fun and was wondering which would be the best combination of esc, motor and battery for the longest run time?
Asked by Robert on 12th June 2017

Battery life would depend heavily on what car this is fitted to and the battery you choose.

Note, this would not be anywhere near suitable for a large car such as the T-MAXX, it's a basic entry level system designed for touring cars.

On say a 3000mah lipo you could expect a runtime of around 15 minutes. On a 5000mah lipo we'd estimate around 25 mins or so.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Hi Would this Combo fit in my Rustler XL5? Regards Brian
Asked by Brian on 25th July 2017
Yes, however it's a little under powered for that vehicle.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Would this work on a helion dominius 10tr
Asked by Sam on 1st August 2017

Technically it would fit, however it's designed for lighter cars than the Dominus. You'd need a beefier system for that truck.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Would this go on the traxxas rustler
Asked by Jordan on 4th August 2017

It would technically fit, however it's a bit underpowered for a truck of that size.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Would this fit an ftx outlaw?
Asked by Alex on 9th August 2017

Yes it will technically fit, however it's not really powerful enough for a car of that weight.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Will it fit in a bsd prime onslaught and is to 2000mah battery good for it?
Asked by Joe Clixby on 13th September 2017

Yes, it would fit - however it's primarily designed for lighter touring cars and buggies rather than trucks.  Ideally you'd want to go for a better system than this for a truck such as that.

If you did run it, please keep an eye on your motor and ESC temperatures and gear down accordingly.

A 2000mah battery would work, but would give reasonably short runtimes.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

I have an old Losing jr2 that I am considering restoring/converting to brushless. Would the Absima kit be appropriate and what battery would you recommend? It needs to fit in a old style 7.2v NiCad slot.
Asked by Bob Blackburn on 15th October 2017

Yes, this would fit - it's the same size as a standard 540 motor.

Batterywise, most batteries out there are still the same size as 7.2v stick packs.  You could run a LiPo such as say VZ0317

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Would this combo be suitable to upgrade a FS Racing Marauder (550 motor). What else would you recommend upgrading as well as the motor? Thanks
Asked by Will Mills on 13th November 2017

We're not familiar with that car, so couldn't really advise.. However yes if it takes a standard 540/550 sized motor then this should fit without issue.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Any good for a Schumacher Mission 1? What capacity 2S LiPo would you recommend?
Asked by Josh V on 22nd November 2017

Yes this would be fine in a touring car.  Capacity of the LiPo won't have any affect on speed, just runtime... So we'd go as large as you can afford - 5000mah for example would give good runtime.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Would this combo work ok in mt maverick strada
Asked by Woz Hussain on 4th December 2017

It would fit, however it's not really beefy enough for a truck of that size. It would be better suited to lighter weight on road cars, or small buggies.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Hi, would this be suitable for a tamiya tb 01 chassis. If so would you recommend 2 or 3 s. Would there be much of a speed increase ?
Asked by Andrew Winterburn on 6th February 2018

Yes this woudl be OK - we'd only stick to 2S on this entry level system.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

would this combo work for the b44.3?
Asked by Kyle on 17th February 2018

It's a basic combo, but yes it would fit in your B44.

As with all systems, it's important to keep an eye on motor/ESC temperatures and ensure gearing is appropriate.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Would this work well in the ECX AMP or would it be underpowered?
Asked by Bob on 25th March 2018

It would be a little underpowered in an Amp.

I have a 30 year old Kyosho Mini Copper s, would this be suitable as a replacement motor? the main drive sprocket is plastic.
Asked by Ollie on 4th April 2018

It's standard 540 size, so I'd imagine would fit.

Obvioulsy, go easy to ensure you don't rip the transmission apart in an older vehicle!

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Is brushless motor easy to install?
Asked by Andrew on 25th June 2018

Yes, very easy - it's the same mounting as a standard 540 brushed motor.

Yes, it would be fine in a T4

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

What’s the biggest most powerful Lipo battery that can be used with this?
Asked by Dan on 13th August 2018

3S LiPo max, but that will depend on your vehicle weight and gearing. 2S would be our recommended maximum for most cars.

Asked by Russell Parker on 10th January 2019

Not really - this would only be suitable for lighter cars and buggies - not an MT especially running a bit more weight.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Would the Absima Thrust 1:10 Brushless ESC and 10T Motor Combo fit in a 2wd Stampede? If not what alternative could you recommend in the same price range?
Asked by Ricky Venter on 1st June 2019

Yes it would physically fit - but will not really be suitable for a car of that weight.

You would be better with something with a bit more power such as say ET0420 or ET0425 as entry points.

Will this system work in a stock Absima AT3.4
Asked by Jack on 22nd December 2019

It will fit, but realistically isn't powerful enough for a truck. Something like HW38010201 would be a better choice.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Will this work in the HSP Flying fish ?
Asked by Ben on 23rd December 2019

That's not a brand we sell, but from a quick glance it looks like it takes standard size motors, so yes it should fit fine.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Would this be OK in the maverick strada drift car on a 2s lipo and would it need programming?
Asked by Ian Trigg on 28th December 2019

Yes that would fit fine in that car.

They are auto setup, so do not require programming to run with standard settings.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Hi, I have this fitted to my maverick strada drift car that i also fit slicks too for a change sometimes. can you recommend what settings i should be using on this in my car at all
Asked by Ian Trigg on 5th January 2020

The stock settings will work fine out the box for most users... Any changes you want to make are really just for personal preferenc - eg drag brake, voltage cut off for LiPo, etc.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

My son is looking to upgrade to a brushless system after burning out his motor, he has a 3s lipo battery. The car is a century UK prime desert assault, would this work? thanks
Asked by Chris Brooker on 6th January 2020

Not on 3S I'm afraid - that's too powerful for a 3S in an off road car.

This system would be OK for 2S batteries in an on road car, but for 3S in an off roader you'd want to look at something more powerful such as say HW38010203

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Will this work with a tamiya tto2
Asked by Glorb on 14th January 2020

Yes that should work fine in that model

Hi Would this be OK in a ftx bugsta even though it's not a 550 motor? I don't want it getting too hot.
Asked by Ian Trigg on 26th January 2020

It will fit, but realistically you'd want a higher power system in a vehicle of that weight.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Do these run ok with a 3s battery or do you recommend just sticking to a 2s? its being used i a drift car atm but may be getting put in a maverick truggy also.
Asked by Ian Trigg on 5th February 2020

I'd strongly recommend sticking to 2S in these.

Answered by: Ben @ Wheelspin Models

Hi Ben, would this be a good upgrade/retrofit for a classic Kyosho Optima buggy and what Lipo s2 battery would you recommend?
Asked by Alex Clark on 23rd February 2020

It'll fit, but is perhaps a bit under powered for a buggy (perhaps not a bad thing in a classic like that)

Any 2S should work fine, some popular choices would be say VZ0310 or VZ0304

hi, I was wondering if this would be a suitable upgrade for my son's traxxas rustler. It's currently running the stock XL-5 setup. Tia for you're help.
Asked by Brett on 2nd September 2021

This would be spot on for that car, you will need an adaptor to use a Traxxas battery with this. I would keep the gearing the same to begin with.
