When the HPI Baja 5B buggy was first introduced, large scale RC was very expensive and quite difficult for the average RC hobbyist to experience. Using highly durable parts and innovative design features, HPI brought large scale off-road to new enthusiasts and ushered in a new, BIGGER era of RC!

With extra-tough drivetrain parts taken straight from the gasoline-powered version such as the viscous torque differential, super-durable composite spur gear with internal damping and all-metal drivetrain, the Baja 5B FLUX is ready for up to 8S of raw LiPo power, so you can see speeds of over 50 miles per hour!

The Baja 5B FLUX is also equipped with extra-big and super-tough suspension parts, featuring awesome HPI durability! With its expertly designed molded composite suspension plus extra-long adjustable HD shocks, and massive high impact nylon 3-piece beadlock wheels, the Baja 5B is ready for full-speed racing on any off-road circuit!

The 4mm thick 6061 aluminum monocoque chassis fits a huge battery box and has space for the BIGGEST brushless motors you can find for RC, and also features an adjustable motor mount. Precise steering is provided by a dual-bellcrank rack and cam-type servo saver. Aluminum parts are anodized in cool gunmetal and a sleek FLUX-specific clear polycarbonate body is included in the SBK kit, ready for your custom racing scheme!

RACING CHASSIS DESIGN & LAYOUT

The narrow channel chassis made from rigid 4mm 6061 aircraft aluminum and gives the HPI Baja 5B FLUX a classic desert racing buggy look and extreme stiffness and durability. The U-shaped chassis is protected at the rear with a thick plastic skid plate for extra protection to the motor and drivetrain.

The tube roll cage is made of high impact nylon and topped with a real aluminum roof to carry on the classic looks. The roll cage is fully functional and protects the motor and internals from crash damage. The roll cage, radio box, body panels, wing, undertray and gear case are all mounted with fast access clips for easy maintenance.

Building an HPI SBK (Self Build Kit) not only gives you the joy of assembling your own custom vehicle - you also have the opportunity to fit your own electronics package as you go! Whether you buy all-new components or use electronics that you already have on hand, the HPI Baja 5B FLUX is ready and waiting for you to go wild!

3-PIECE BEADLOK WHEELS & OFF-ROAD RACING TIRES

Specially constructed high-impact nylon 3-piece bead lock wheels are included, featuring NEW inset heavy-duty metal hex hub inserts for massively increased wheel durability. The contrasting beadlock ring is bolted onto the wheel with 20 screws to securely hold the tire in place. No glue is used to mount the tires, which makes changing the tires quick and easy and the wheels can be used again with brand new tires.

To allow the HPI Baja 5B buggies to go anywhere, Dirt Buster off-road tires are included that are ideally suited for off-road conditions. The Dirt Buster S Compound rear tires use a versatile square pin design that sheds mud and gives amazing grip for massive top speed runs, while the Dirt Buster rib tires provide the direction and steering necessary for pinpoint accuracy on the track. The rear tires use a special high-density racing style closed-cell inner foam which are firmer and longer-lasting than standard open-cell foam inserts. The closed cell Insert allows the tires to keep their shape and offer greater grip levels in tougher conditions.

ROCK-SOLID RELIABLE DRIVETRAIN

The legendary HPI Baja 5B Viscous Torque Control differential delivers the power to the rear wheels with smoothness and precision. The differential can be easily tuned by using differential oils of various thicknesses. The metal alloy diff case is finned for extra heat dissipation and to keep the internal gears firmly in place. The diff outdrives or cups are machined from hardened metal for reliable performance in all conditions. The internal gears are also made from hardened metal to handle 8S power, big-air jumps and huge top speeds!

#104966 SUPER HEAVY DUTY DRIVE SHAFT

The 9mm thick Super Heavy Duty Drive Shaft and matching HD drivetrain parts add a serious amount of toughness to the drivetrain, and the rubber boots keep mud and grass from the outdrives and bearings.

The one-piece Rear Hub Carrier are easier to adjust, more durable, and are a lighter weight than the original multi-piece hub carriers. They also allow toe-in adjustments of 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 degrees to help match the Baja’s performance to track conditions.

Replacing the original C-clip front hex hub, the HD Front Hex Hub adds a serious amount of strength to the front suspension and dramatically improves the durability of the HPI Baja 5B.    

 

LARGE ENCLOSED BATTERY BOX

The HPI Baja 5B FLUX features a large, tool-less, easy entry battery box capable of holding two 4S LiPo packs or one 8S LiPo pack with an easy to reach opening for connecting the battery(s) and ESC together. Note: the internal dimensions of the battery box is 200 x 84 x 47mm.

The HPI Baja 5B FLUX features long-stroke off-road suspension with huge coilover shocks featuring Heavy Duty construction. The HPI Baja 5B's HD shocks deliver improved handling over rough terrain and feature extra-large 6mm diameter shock shafts for ultimate durability. The rear shocks feature dual-rate springs for optimal traction on rough terrain. Threaded shock bodies are used for easy adjustment of ride height and pre-load, and each HPI Baja 5B Big Bore shock features extra-long springs, rubber shaft seals and all-metal body construction for consistently perfect control on all types of off-road terrain.
