Tamiya Motor information
Updated by Nicky
The Tamiya 540 brushed motors are still going strong in the Tamiya kits, but what are the differences between the Tamiya 540 brushed motors you can buy at wheelspin models? We list some of the differences below:

The type 540-N motor is a fairly basic 540 motor, but is a good replacement if you are on a budget, and didn’t want to spend the additional money on a Tamiya RS540 Sport Tuned motor. The 540-N motor has the both the lowest torque and rpm of the Tamiya 540 brushed motor range.
- Input voltage: 7.2-8.4V
- RPM (@7.2V): 13,800
- Torque (@7.2V): 283g-cm
Tamiya RS-540 Torque Tuned Motor

The RS-540 Torque Tuned motor, is usually found as the standard motor in a number of Tamiya kits. They offer an increase in torque and power compared to the 540-N motor, and are very popular with people due to their performance to cost ratio.
- Input voltage: 7.2-8.4V
- RPM (@7.2V): 16,000
- Torque (@7.2V): 305g-cm
Tamiya RS-540 Sport Tuned Motor

The RS-540 Sport Tuned Motor is the most popular upgrade. The RS-540 does have a significant increase in torque and rpm compared to the other Tamiya 540 brushed motors, which will help give you an increase in power and speed too. We always advise changing the bearings on your car from the plastic type, to full ball bearings if using this motor.
- Input voltage: 6-8.4V
- RPM (@7.2V): 18,300
- Torque (@7.2V): 350g-cm
